Viva Las Vegas!

Well we couldn’t come all this way and not take a few days to check out Las Vegas while we’re here, so we took a detour from Route 66 and drove up into Nevada for three nights staying at the Luxor on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Vegas was both surprising and exactly as I expected at the same time.  As expected, we saw amazing bright lights, incredible luxury resorts, thousands of ways to spend your money, and hundreds of scantily clad women.

To my surprise, I saw a huge range of people, found plenty of fun things to do other than gambling, found it very chilled out and relaxing and actually had a really great time!

We arrived Wednesday night and saw Mystère by Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island, which was just amazing!  Then Thursday we did a bit of sightseeing, a smidge of shopping, a lot of walking around and, under strict orders, had “In-n-Out Burger” for dinner.

Friday was a very chilled out day with a sleep in, then a swim in the pool and a spot of sunbathing.  It’s very surreal swimming in a gorgeous pool, in the middle of the desert, surrounded by palm trees next to a massive glass pyramid!  Then Friday night Larry Miller and Jerry Seinfeld kept us entertained with their stand-up comedy at Caesar’s Palace, which we all loved!

On Saturday morning there was just enough time for one last drive down the strip before our next adventure…
