Santa Monica and Disneyland

Well I’ve been reunited with the family again and we’ve been making the most of our time in California.  On Monday, while everyone else was heading back to work, we decided to head to the beach.  I really wanted to see Santa Monica Pier, partly because I loved Brighton Pier so much, plus I wanted to see the ocean to prove we are really going “Coast to Coast”!  Well, I couldn’t have asked for a better day.  Santa Monica was gorgeous, the weather was just perfect, the beach was beautiful and the pier was really fun, and surprisingly chilled out.  After doing a bit of travelling around Europe, I’m finding America very friendly and easy-going and I’m loving it!

We enjoyed the pier and the beach, strolled through the shops, had a whole lotta lunch and then even checked out Venice beach too, which has a very different vibe and tonnes of character.

Then we were lucky enough to be able to meet Trista’s lovely Mum (sorry, “Mom”) and have a whole lotta dinner before getting in a good night’s sleep before our big adventure…

Disneyland!!

I was expecting big things from Tuesday’s trip to “The Happiest Place on Earth” and fortunately it did not disappoint.  I was impressed by the friendly staff, the fun atmosphere, the attention to detail and the amazing rides.  Even the quieter “kids” rides are amazing, nothing was boring.  It rained in the morning which put a damper on things (*rim-shot*) but the sun came out in the afternoon and cheered us all up and we had a fab time.  Space Mountain was the most exciting ride, but the surprise winner on the day was by far the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, it was really incredible.  Nathan and I picked up some new friends while we were there too.  🙂

“Finding Nemo” ride? When I was a kid that was the “Submarine Journey” ride– I recognize it from that long ago…
